I have configured a form field for a Duplicate Manager Form with data type as String and Component type as Object. I am embedding an html into this. However, when I open the form to edit the fields, the data type is also exposed. Is there any other datatype that I am supposed to use of is this a bug?

My bad, you already did, but it was not showing on my side.
After clearing cache, it did.
It actually is the expected behavior of the tool, as when the content of the form field of object type increases then the size also increase, it's more like an attachment added to the form.
When we add an attachment, it's necessary to show it's size in the form for the user, and this is the same behavior here.
If you want to hide this field while authoring then you should create a new form from which the HTML field is excluded so that when the user will author the record or edit, then the HTML field will not be visible.
