This article's goal is to push or block an update on a record whether this record already exist in the MDM or not.
If the validation is met then the certification is triggered and follows its due course.
If not, then the persist is cancelled and the certification does not run.
There is no automatic split in Semarchy, so no, it won't split.
We recommend splitting manually directly via the UI.

I found and article that explains how to update existing records using RES API.
here is the link. I was wondering if this update to an existing record would trigger a new certification process- i.e. if the change in record means the master record should not be part of the same match group as match rules fail, will it split and form a new golden record?
