These days I spend a lot of time working on the xdi-designer in combination with analytics, and I keep getting deconnected after ~10min of idleness on analytics.
This leads me to having to constantly reconnect (10-20 times every day) to analytics, which is quite unpleasant.
Is there a way to avoid this behavior, say, set session expires after 1 hour of idleness ?

Hello,
To avoid this behavior, you need to increase the value of the 'http sessions timeout' parameter, which you will find in the preferences view (see screenshot below).
