xDM provides two (2) options for incorporating un-/semi-structured data in the data management solution - internal or external storage.

Internally, the un-/semi-structured data would be modeled and mapped to a Binary (BLOB) data type in the content database.

If the un-/semi-structured data is to remain external to the data management solution, a link to that object would be modeled and mapped to a String (VARCHAR) data type in the content database.
